SUPPLYING FILES TO Maxximap: THE OPTIONS!
Maxximap constantly invests in the most up-to-date Apple computers and
graphic software, which means that we can always process the MAC files
you send us. Files that are created in graphic software for the PC should
be saved as EPS in MAC format with all the text converted to letter contours.
POINTS OF SPECIAL ATTENTION FOR EACH PROGRAMME:
ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR
If Adobe llustrator is used, it is important that the following points
be taken into account:
Save the documents as an EPS file, not as an illustrator file.
If the printed matter is created in CMYK, check whether all the colours
are also CMYK and convert any RGB files.
Always supply fonts, both the screen and the printer fonts (Postscript
Letterfonts).
We prefer to convert texts created in illustrator into letter contours.
Photographs in illustrator should be supplied as EPS-CMYK; always supply
this visual material. The quality of the visual material should be 300
dpi if the images are to be 100%. If the visual material is included in
an enlarged form, the resolution should be at least 240 dpi.
Do not make photographs too large so that files are not too large.
All the pages than run off should have a 3-mm bleed outside the edge.
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP
If Photoshop is used, it is important that the following points be taken
into account:
Supply the images with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi at true size
and saved in the colour in which your ring binder should be made (not
RGB) in one of the following file formats.
Photoshop EPS.
Tiff.
JPEG as long as the image is 300 dpi at true size. Note! A lot of Jpeg
files are ‘jerky’ as a result of too high a compression. Save
them at a compression of 12 (no compression).
The above file formats are suitable for printed matter. However, if you
want to supply in another file format, please discuss this with the order
consultant.
ADOBE INDESIGN
If Indesign is used, it is important that the following points be taken
into account:
Always supply imported images.
Images should remain at least 300 dpi in the format used; if they are
below this, the quality will be too low. (Making them too small can also
cause problems, for example a Moire effect.) Line images should have a
resolution of at least 800 dpi at 100%.
Do not save Photoshop EPSs with JPEG code. Save the files without “halftone
screen”, “transfer function”, “Postscript color
management” or “Image interpolation” (options on saving).
Create clipping paths in Photoshop, and in Indesign do not select “non
white parts”.
All the fonts should be supplied: screen fonts and printer fonts suitable
for MAC OSX.
True Type and Multiple Master fonts are NOT accepted.
Never create a font using the style pallet bold or italics but always
use the variant integrated in the font.
If the printed matter is to be printed in CMYK, create all the colours
in CMYK, including the images and illustrations used.
In the case of printed matter that is to be printed in PMS colours do
not mix together different PMS colour codes (for example PMS 280c, 280
cv or 280 cvc).
If you use gradients during creation, these should not be created in Indesign;
these should be created in Photoshop or possibly in Illustrator.
ADOBE ACROBAT
If Acrobat is used, it is important that the following points be taken
into account:
Supplying certified PDF is not a problem if you use the profiles KVGO
sheet offset (CMYK or spot) or the profiles of the Ghent PDF work group
(SheetCMYK or SheetSpotHires).
We always check your PDF file using the above profiles and for format,
etc. If your PDF file contains errors, we will e-mail you the Acrobat-generated
report to help you solve the problem.
QUARK X-PRESS
If X-press is used, it is important that the following points be taken
into account:
Always supply imported images.
Images should remain at least 300 dpi in the format used; if they are
below this, the quality will be too low. (Making them too small can also
cause problems, for example a Moire effect.) Line images should have a
resolution of at least 800 dpi at 100%.
Do not save Photoshop EPSs with JPEG code. Save the files without “halftone
screen”, “transfer function”, “Postscript color
management” or “Image interpolation” (options on saving).
Create clipping paths in Photoshop, and in X-press do not select “non
white parts”.
If you use gradients during creation, these should not be created in X-press;
these should be created in Photoshop or possibly in Illustrator.
GENERAL COMMENTS:
Please always send a colour print and colour-separated prints so that
we can check the material supplied for missing elements or shifts before
we send you a plotter proof.
If you supply digital files, we always prefer it if you supply a 100%
colour proof. If we receive documents without a colour proof, during printing
we will always use the standard values for the printing technique concerned
as regards density, point size, etc.
Please supply all files created in the above programmes.
